I have had 7 different cats, and my first cat is still alive! I have lost 3, Buddy, Catcher, and Sophia. They were all hard on me, but I appreciate the bond that I get to have with the others. Specifically Mudkip.
Mudkip is the youngest and the one that I get to see the most. Oreo is the oldest and my first cat. She lives with someone else so I am unable to see her very often. I love all my cats, and I have unique bond with each of them.
Mudkip and Togepi. They are both boy cats and I have had a very different bond with them in comparison to the other two cats. I found that the boy cats I have are more affectionate and need more attention, but it varies. That's just a pattern I have witnessed.
Mudkip is the one I am bonded to the most. I got him when I was 16 and I gave him space and let him come to me, but I did sit next to him when he was napping. He was a crazy kitten sometimes, but when he was tired he just wanted to cuddle.
Everytime I come home from college he greets me and meows really loud. That's how I know it's not just about who feeds him, it's about the relationship we share. I am his mom, I raised him, I took care of him for 2 years. People want to claim that cats only like you for food, but this is my evidence that it's much more than that.
Remember that when you go to bond with your cat, that they want space. Let them come to you. Pushing that relationship can push your cat away.
